Carol specializes in attorney ethics law, including attorney advertising and unauthorized practice of law. Her practice is limited to counseling; she does not represent lawyers in disciplinary matters.
From 2006 to February 1, 2025, Carol answered the attorney ethics hotline in the New Jersey Judiciary, Supreme Court Clerk’s Office.
During this 19-year period, Carol also served as staff and counsel to several New Jersey Supreme Court committees, including the Advisory Committee on Professional Ethics, the Committee on Attorney Advertising, and the Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law.


Carol is a frequent lecturer on ethics issues and was awarded the 2017 Distinguished Service Award for Excellence in Continuing Legal Education by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
Before joining the New Jersey Judiciary, Carol served for 15 years as a trial and appellate lawyer in the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, Division of Law. She also served as Department Ethics Officer and was a charter member of the Prosecutors Code of Ethics Committee.
Carol tried numerous bench and jury cases in state and federal court and argued many cases before the New Jersey Supreme Court and Appellate Division. She wrote several briefs to the United States Supreme Court on First Amendment issues. She argued and wrote the brief in 27 cases that resulted in published opinions.
While serving in the Attorney General’s Office, Carol represented the Department of the Treasury and Division of Taxation in state tax matters and federal bankruptcy matters; the State Police in labor matters and civil rights matters; New Jersey Transit in personal injury matters; and the Departments of Health and Senior Services and Banking and Insurance in administrative and appellate matters.
Carol clerked for New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert N. Wilentz. She is a graduate of Hamilton College and New York Law School and a member of the New Jersey and New York Bars. She enjoys travelling, yoga, gardening, cats, singing, and fly fishing with her husband.
